Gardener in Emneth

Emneth sits just over the county line from Wisbech, on the Norfolk side of the A47, and I look after gardens right across the village and out to Emneth Hungate. Grass cutting, hedge cutting, pruning, weeding and garden tidy-ups, on a regular round or as a one-off.

Gardens in Emneth

A lot of Emneth gardens are generous by town standards. Bigger lawns, longer boundaries, and in many cases a hedge running along the back with farmland on the other side. A field-edge hedge can put on a lot of growth in a season, and once it gets too tall and wide it is hard to bring back without a hard cut.

Timing matters with hedges like that. Hawthorn, blackthorn and other native hedging is full of nesting birds from spring into summer, and disturbing an active nest is against the law, so the main cut is best done in autumn or winter. My guide on cutting hedges in the nesting season covers the rules. Conifers and leylandii are different and should be cut in late spring or summer, not after August.

Alongside hedge cutting, I keep larger lawns in order with regular grass cutting, and I do weeding, tree pruning, bush removal and garden clearance.
